Feel like you're having a bad day, or that your house is a total mess? Well, chances are you have nothing on this German family. A family in Aachen were very surprised--and left with over $15,000 in damages--after a bull entered their house through the back door.
The bull, a red-brown Limousin, had escaped from a nearby farmer and pulled a reverse Ferris Bueller ("No, don't get up!") by entering through the back door, wandering through the house and then exiting through the front door. The animal went through the hall, the kitchen ("Dinner's ready!") and the living room.
None of the family were injured, but their home did sustain a substantial amount of damage. Now it's easier to understand, for this family anyway, the root of the phrase "like a bull in a china shop," a term that was coincidentally applied to this author as a child. Sadly, the bull was later shot by a hunter. It doesn't seem reasonable to me to shoot and animal but I guess it posed a real danger and couldn't be subdued. The renegade bull had apparently also run over the bordering town of Monschau before hitting the house.
