Filed under: Health & safety, Shopping & recallsThe U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall of about 8,000 Cobra Children's Two-Way Radios. The rechargeable batteries in the radios can leak electrolyte, which can pose a chemical burn hazard to users. These were made in China for Cobra Electronics and sold at Toys "R" Us Stores nationwide from August 2008 through September 2008 for about $30 each. The recall involves two-way radios with 300 mah "CEL" batteries. The radios are made of pink plastic and come in purple packaging. You can find the product number PR191-2VP printed on the front of the packaging and on a label inside the battery compartment. The batteries are standard AAA Nickle Metal Hydride battery cells with a black wrapper and the battery name 300 mah (CEL) and the date code (TF or RF) on the battery itself. If you have one of these two-way radio sets, you should stop using it immediately and contact Cobra Electronics for a free replacement and a 20% off coupon for a future purchase. If the batteries have leaked on the radio, do not touch the liquid. You can reach Cobra Electronics by calling (888) 252-9889 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or by visiting their Web site.
